A Yes Day is when your parents let you do what you want and they have to say “yes”!👍🏻 We have been asking for a Yes Day forever, and we finally got one in Monterey!🦦
There were some rules, though. We had a budget of $400.🤑 Another rule was that we couldn’t hurt anybody or cause damage to anything (which is probably a good rule). We also decided that Mom and Dad were not allowed to use their phones.🤳🏻 Oh, and sadly, nothing could last longer than that day, so we couldn’t get a dog! 🐕
We went to a very interactive escape room,🗝️ an arcade👾 for the second time that week, a huge candy🍬 store, walked down a big pier, and then went home, ate sushi,🍣 and watched Peter Pan.🧚🏻

I was the planner, researcher, and budget keeper, which felt very important and serious. It was fun keeping track of everything I researched.👩🏻💻 I had to find the prices, places, and times for everything we wanted to do. I wrote it all down on a list 📃so I wouldn’t forget anything. We mostly stuck to the plan, except we skipped going to a second candy store…one candy store seemed like enough.

I kept track of the money on Mom’s phone.📱 At the end of the day, we still had $80 left, which felt like winning.🥇 Luckily, we didn’t have to change anything because of money, but we did decide to skip going to a restaurant so we could go home and eat sushi instead (best decision).
My favorite part of the whole Yes Day was the escape room. It had jail cells where Grier, Sayer, and I were locked in, and Mom and Dad were handcuffed to the wall, which was kind of funny. It was a lot of fun, and everything went as planned. We escaped with four minutes left on the clock!🕑

The day was so much fun, and I wouldn’t change anything about it. I also learned how to manage a budget, which made me feel proud and responsible. I really hope we get to do another Yes Day someday, because I loved this amazing experience!........Oh, and maybe we can get a dog next time.🦴
