This morning,🌅 Mom and Dad woke us up way too early🥱 to go whale🐳 watching. The trip was three hours long, and we didn’t see ANY whales until the last 20 minutes. A few of people got seasick (thankfully not us), but besides that, the trip was pretty great.

We were already heading back to the dock, and just when we thought we were going home whale-less, we suddenly saw two humpback whales diving and blasting water into the air like giant fountains!⛲
There was a really nice marine biologist🦈🦦 on the boat named River Sean, and he taught us some cool whale facts. Whales have comb-like🪮 teeth so when they close their mouths, the water falls out but the plankton stays in.

We also learned some fun facts about other sea animals. For example, when sea lions are in big groups and jumping around, it can mean a whale might pop up soon. Another fact is that sea lions have ear flaps and seals just have little holes. Sea lions also have big fins, while seals have smaller ones. Sea lions bark, and seals don’t bark but sometimes croak.🦭

My favorite part was when the whales swam super close to the boat to check us out and then one blew his spout right into my face! It smelled like dead fish,🐟 and I got a little wet💦 which was pretty gross but still the coolest moment by far!
Overall, even though the whales made us wait forever, it was totally worth it.
