These trolls were so cute and hunting for them was so much fun! They’re actually amazing sculptures created by a Danish artist named Thomas Dambo. He’s not just an artist, but also an activist and a super creative person. He builds these trolls all over the world using upcycled wood!

There are five trolls hidden around Detroit Lakes, and we found them all! The trolls come with a special story that turns the whole adventure into a treasure hunt. Every troll wears a necklace with a symbol and a number. You use those symbols to decode the troll alphabet. Once you find all five, you can solve the riddle that leads you to the Golden Rabbit, a sculpture made from upcycled plastic. Its eyes are even made from old motorcycle helmets!

Each troll had a little challenge for us to complete, and they were all really sweet. Our favorite part was telling stories to Jacob Everear (it’s pronounced “ever-ear,” not “eve-rear” like Mom said at first. lol!).

Another cool thing was that the troll hunt led us through places we probably wouldn’t have explored otherwise. We saw awesome outdoor sculptures, a historic covered bridge, and even the world’s largest turkey!

Alexa's Elixer: collect the sounds of happy birds (we listened to happy bird sounds while playing on the playground).

Ronny Funny Face: make a stranger laugh (we told jokes and made funny faces with the other people on the path).

Barefoot Frida: walk a mile barefoot (easy!).

Jacob Everear: he likes to hear people tell him stories (we climbed up and whispered our stories in his ear).

Long Leif: plant a tree (we did!).

The Golden Rabbit: don't buy anything new for a day (done!).
