On our way to Las Vegas, Nevada, we stopped at a really cool art installation by Ugo Rondinone called Seven Magic Mountains. It is made of seven HUGE towers of brightly painted, stacked boulders that are about 30–35 feet tall! We arrived right at sunset, and it was so cool to see! The place was beautiful and quiet, and I was really excited when Dad told us we were gonna camp there that night!

It was beautiful… but sadly, there was trash everywhere, which really didn’t match the view. The next morning, we decided to pick up the trash because it hurts the Earth and it made us sad.
We put on gloves (which usually are used for emptying the tanks) and filled up bags with trash. We found lots of normal things like old fast-food bags, cups, and cans. But we also found glass everywhere, and we even found more than one dirty diaper. Gross! (Who does that?) When we were done, we took the bags to the dumpster and put all that trash where it’s supposed to go.

At first, I felt sad that people would leave their trash behind, but while I was cleaning up, I started to feel much better. It felt kind of like a treasure hunt, except the treasure was trash and it was fun for our whole family to be working as a team. When we finished, I was super proud! It was an easy job, and it was fun to run around in the windy early morning with my hair blowing everywhere.
After we were done, the area looked perfect, like it was supposed to. Taking care of nature is important because if we don’t love our Earth, it will die. I’ve helped clean up places before, but this one felt extra special. It felt good to give back to such a cool place.🌏
