Visiting Pictured Rocks was an amazing experience! We decided to explore the shoreline by kayak so we could get up close to the colorful cliffs and even go inside some of the caves along the water.🌊 We found a great tour company that took us and all the kayaks to some of the most incredible spots along the National Lakeshore.🚤

There were only two-person kayaks, so Sayer went with Mommy, Grier went with Daddy, and I got paired with one of the guides, Hadley. At first, I was nervous about kayaking with someone I didn’t know, but it turned out to be really fun. Hadley was an awesome tour guide and showed me some of the coolest caves and rock formations.🪨 I think I had an even better time because I got to ride with him!

While kayaking, we saw giant cliffs, tall trickling waterfalls, caves, and even a rock arch near Miner’s Castle.🏰 We got to touch the cave walls and dip our hands into the flowing waterfalls, which felt super cold and refreshing.🖐🏼 One of the coolest things we learned was that the different colored stripes on the rocks are caused by different minerals, like red (iron), green (copper), black (manganese), and white (limestone). And this is where the name “Pictured Rocks” come from!🖼️

Overall, it was an unforgettable adventure!
